這題句型結構看好久還是不明白…個人想法嘗試解讀，期待高手分享

and是對等連接詞，下個動詞是become，所以黃色部分應是主詞the green fruit was allowed to ripen fully，這邊水果是被允許成熟（？）

目前看起來主被動刪去法是最好解釋，但沒有印象看過連接詞and if 連用的句型…
