‧as：as以主要子句中的一部分或全體作為先行詞，類似於which的用法。as所引導的子句也常出現在主要子句之前。

I helped him, as was my duty.
(我幫助了他，這是我的責任。)

She is very careful, as her work shows.
(她飛常的細心，這可從她的工作表現看出。)

He is absent, as is often the case.
(他缺席了，經常如此。)

He was a foreigner, as I knew from his accent.

‧but：含有否定意味，相當於"that .... not"，先行的主要子句中常帶有否定語。
