    Today, making payment online is very easy if you have a credit card or a bank card that uses a payment network like Visa or Mastercard. Sending money online to a friend, however, is a bit more complicated. You have to use a payment service like Google Pay or Paypal, or make a bank transfer. Even then, Payments often aren't instantaneous. There is usually a significant delay before the recipient can use the money, and transfers can have sizeable fees.
    In 2008, someone, or perhaps a group of people, using the name Satoshi Nakamoto published a paper to an online group that discussed cryptography. That paper described a process that would use cryptography to create a secure electronic cash system, now known as a cryptography. Person-to-person payments could be made online using a shared network of computers instead of a bank or other financial institution. Each transaction could happen very quickly. The shared network of computers would also serve as the means to verify those transactions safely. By getting rid of the need for a centralized banking system, it opens up the possibility for anyone to become part of the digital economy.
