Bob the engineer needs the engine to do some work, so he heats the system to cause the gas to expand. Bob noted that he added 5 kJ of heat to this system, but he only got the piston to do 1.43 kJ of work. The gas can be assumed to behave like an ideal gas and the process is done reversibly.
