Wai-ao,
Yilan Country is a well-known surfing resort in the north. Summer vacation is the
peak season for many tourists to surf and paddle. There are more than a dozen
surf stores and B&B on the street behind the beach, and the competition is
intense. Tourists can experience surfing just by purchasing a package tour.
Although the services may seem complete, many operators’ contract books lack
accident insurance alone. According to the reports, the tourist who can’t surf
just need to pay 500 dollars, they can have professional trainers to do simple
surfing education. According to the rules, the operator need to insure
3,000,000 dollars accident insurance for the tourists, but the contract states
that tourists are responsible for any injuries or accidents, if the accident is
not related to the rented surfboard, it won’t be claimed. In order to improve
this situation, officials are currently discussing the requirement for
operators to insure accident insurance for the tourists to avoid accidental
disputes.
