Nafarelin is a gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist. By causing constant stimulation of the pituitary gland, it decreases pituitary secretion of the gonadotropins luteinizing hormone and follicle stimulating hormone. Nafarelin may be used in the treatment of estrogen-dependent conditions, to treat central precocious puberty, or to control ovarian stimulation in IVF.
