協作在線國際學習（COIL）是最近開發的一種教育形式，它促進了來自世界不同國家的大學之間的全球學習。借助( With the aid of)互聯網和視頻會議等現代技術，來自不同國家的學校的學生可以與具有不同文化和語言背景的同齡人一起開始(embark on)學習。這也是一種負擔得起的(affordable)國際學習方式，通過該方式學生可以與年齡相仿的人建立友誼並一起學習，而不必花很多錢出國去做。正如協作這個詞所表明的那樣，這是一種教學法，側重於以學生為中心的學習方法，而教師僅扮演促進者(facilitators)的角色。他們需要通過制定有利的(advantageous)學習策略和活動來建立良好的合作關係，這些策略和活動可以增強學生的學習動機(boost students' motivation)以及彼此學習和學習的意願。通過視頻會議等現代技術，學生可以討論他們感興趣的主題，並且可以跨文化交流。這是獲得自己的全球讀寫能力和跨文化能力(competence)的一種富有成果的方式。這就是為什麼美國和日本的某些大學在鼓勵全世界這種學習中發揮積極作用的原因。

Collaborative online international learning (COIL) is a recently developed form of education that promotes global learning between colleges and universities from different countries around the world. With the aid of modern technology such as the Internet and videoconferencing, students from schools in different countries can  (B)embark on their learning with peers of different cultural and language backgrounds.
