A recent study from Brazil finds a connection between vegetarianism and mental health issues. The study,
in which 14,216 people between 35 to 74 years old were surveyed, shows that individuals following vegetarian
diets are more susceptible to depression. In fact, those who don’t eat meat are twice more likely to have a depressive episode than meat consumers.

While there is evidence pointing to a lack of meat consumption causing more mental health issues, there are
some conflicting studies that find no correlation between vegetarian diets and mood effects. According to these
studies, it might be too straightforward to assume that the former is causing the latter via nutritional deficiency. A
healthy diet goes far beyond identifying as a vegetarian or non-vegetarian. There are other variables not examined but are plausibly linked to both vegetarianism and depression. One thing for sure is that a balanced intake accompanied by regular exercise is essential in maintaining physical and mental health.

(pointing)
While there is evidence pointing to a lack of meat consumption causing more mental health issues, …
While there is evidence pointing to a lack of meat consumption causing more mental health issues, …
there is evidence
evidence pointing to …
there is evidence that points to a lack of meat consumption causing more mental health issues
? 把 that points to 簡化成 pointing to
❌ point
❌ points
❌ pointed
evidence pointed to…
✅ pointing
? evidence pointing to + 名詞 / 子句
evidence pointing to climate change
evidence pointing to a connection between diet and health
evidence(證據)
pointing to…(指出……)

- The boy
playing the pianois my brother.(正在彈鋼琴的男孩是我的兄弟。)
- The boy
- The theater, destroyed by a fire, was never rebuilt.
- Walking along the street, I met my teacher. (原句: While I was walking...)
- Frightened by the thunder, the cat hid. (原句: Because it was frightened...)
- 緊接在名詞後:通常是形容詞功能,如 the man wearing a blue tie。
Hearing the noise, the girl woke up.。
