“Participatory budgeting” (PB) is a method of democratic decision-making whereby community members engage in deliberation regarding how a portion of public resources ought to be allocated and distributed. The New York Times calls PB “revolutionary civics in action,” as it deepens democracy, builds stronger communities, and creates a more equitable distribution of public resources. Write an essay of no more than 200 words to respond to New York Time’s comment and discuss whether this method could be applied in Taiwan.
