Suppose you could choose one day in a year as a new holiday for the whole world to celebrate. What holiday would it be? Please explain why and how your created holiday should be celebrated.

(一) To many people around the world, “hula” may conjure images of plastic dancers shaking their hips on car dashboards. But long before hula was commodified, it was a sacred dance among Native Hawaiians – an ancient practice that served as an archive of their stories, beliefs and way of life. There was no written language in ancient Hawai'i. Instead, the Hawaiians used oral tradition and hula to pass on their identity and culture from one generation to the next.

(二) In 1869, three central New York women led the National Woman Suffrage Association (NWSA) for women’s voting rights. Elizabeth Candy Stanton, an organizer of the 1848 women’s rights convention, and activist Susan B. Anthony are well-known. The third, Matilda Josyn Cage, was almost forgotten due to her radicalism. Unlike the other two, Gage aimed to extend human rights to all Americans, including Black and Indigenous individuals.

(二) We are saddened by the tragic loss of life and harm caused during the deadly shooting at Michigan State University, and we offer our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and communities of the victims. The shooting comes as a stark reminder of the tragedy of gun violence and is just the latest in a long string of similarly traumatic events at U.S. schools and higher education institutions. 一、英譯中： (一) Like many of you, the Association has observed the unfolding events with regard to President Donald Trump’s recent Executive Order regarding entry to the United States with trepidation and concern. The order raises immediate and legitimate fears and concerns in relation to issues of immigration, refugees, human rights, and religious discrimination.

(二) Scientists have invented a magical gadget that sucks the ink off printer paper so each sheet can be used ten times over. They aim to cut the amount of planet-heating carbon dioxide emissions from the paper and pulp industry by reducing the demand for office paper. The trick is a kind of specially coated paper, which stops ink from soaking into the page. A powerful laser then vaporizes the ink.
