若以外地人泛然的看台北，它是世界上少有的醜陋、不協調無優雅建築、古蹟極少，空氣中懸浮粒子極多、綠意相當不足的一個現代大都市。
If people from other places look at Taipei in general, it is one of the few ugly, uncoordinated and elegant buildings in the world, few historical sites, a lot of suspended particles in the air, and a modern metropolis that lacks greenery.

但這個現代大都市中的人走路速度不很快。
But people in this modern metropolis do not walk very fast.

他們不緊張，也不急忙。
They are not nervous or in a hurry.

它的街道看不見什麼無家可歸的流浪漢。
There are no homeless tramps in its streets.

沒有貧民區、犯罪區，也沒有以種族劃分的住宅區。 
There are no slums, crime areas, or ethnically divided residential areas.

台北是世界大城市中最沒有塗鴉的。
aipei is the least graffiti-free city in the world.

這實在另人驚奇。
This is really surprising.

倒不是政府把它清洗掉，人根本不去塗。

人並不強烈的用公眾平面來宣吐自己。
People don't use public planes to express themselves strongly.

台北也少有廁所文學。

八十年代公共汽車最後一排的「娟娟我愛你」雖也有。但頗微淡。如今早低落了。
