4. In a clinical trial for the optimal diet to prevent heart disease, a researcher is
evaluating three different diets for her recruited participants with a family history of
heart disease. To compare the cficctiveness of these three diets, 16 participants were
placed on the carbohydrate-rich diet, 32 participants on the protein-rich diets and
unsaturated-fat-rich diet, respectively. After performing the one-way analysis of
variance (ANOVA), the results indicated that triglycerides of the three diet groups
significantly differed (F = 5.338, P-value = 0.007) and weights did not (F = 0.157, P-
value = 0.855). Then pairwise comparisons of triglycerides between any two of the
three groups were made using two-sample t-test as shown in the following tables.

(C) From the analysis results, how did triglycerides differ among the three diet groups? What conclusions do you make in terms of preventing heart discase using the three diets? (12 marks)
